The Birth of Bahamut and Tiamat
A History of the Lost God Io
Before the beginning of time there were two voids. The First Void where the god Io lived and The Shadow Void. Io was all in existence, until Io wished it there could be nothing. When Io voluntarily shed blood into the Shadow Void land began to form, humans, animals and creatures of all types began to form and evolve under Io’s balanced gaze. Then other gods began to emerge, gods for different races and dogmas.
Io enjoyed her newly created world. Time passed and eventually the alignments formed. Creatures and gods began to tend towards good and evil, lawful and chaotic. Io created her first dragon child, Vorel. Vorel was beautiful, perfect in form and scale.
Soon the gods and primordials began to quarrel. Wars broke out and Io, in an attempt to create peace came to the Shadow Void and attempted to end the war. Of course the other gods and primordials simply began to attack her as well.
After one particularly powerful hit Io proclaimed, “If this war must cause death let it be my own death to end it.” Her body then split into two halves and formed into two new dragon gods, Bahamut and Tiamat. The war ended with this bang and the gods and primordials returned to their own planes. But Bahamut and Tiamat were instant rivals. Good and Evil.
But Io did not only split in half. She also shed blood. Her blood became the dragonborn and kobolds. Minions to aid in creating peace. This, of course, also did not go to plan. The dragonborn and kobolds took sides. A few still held the belief that peace could be had, but these were and are few.
Some say that Io’s body did not only turn into creatures. Some say that it created artifacts or weapons of peace, but none have ever been found.
