Crit Tables

Spell Fumbles occur when caster rolls a 1 on concentration checks to cast spells.

1 Caster loses all spell slots or preparations. 51 Flowers burst into bloom in 50 ft radius around the caster.
2 Caster’s hair grows 1d4 feet. 52 Caster thinks he is a fish for 1d6 rounds.
3 Caster loses 1d4 intelligence, will return by one point per full night of sleep. 53 The closest currently used weapon to the caster loses any bonuses for the encounter.
4 Open a momentary portal to the Elemental Plane of Air. Dealing 1-5d4 points of sonic damage in a 10ft radius around (and including) target point of original spell. 54 Target (if PC) or caster smells like a skunk for 1d4 days.
5 Caster’s nose begins to bleed. 55 Spell reflects onto caster.
6 Enemy target grows twice his size, friendly target shrinks half his size for 1d12 rounds. 56 Caster’s speed is reduced to 5ft and makes it impossible to use objects or cast spells with a somatic component.
7 Roll 4d6, caster is that many years younger, if that makes them unborn they poof out of existance. 57 Target is charmed as if by “Charm Monster” or “Charm Person”.
8 Random weapon on random party member glows purple when near Kobolds. 58 Target vanishes (into a dimensional pocket) and reappears 1d4 rounds later.
9 Caster thinks he is a Drow for 1d6 rounds. 59 Target loses 1d4 strength, will return by one point per full night of sleep.
10 You suddenly develop the hiccups causing you to mess up your spell (mispronunciation, misused ingredient, etc) resulting in each party member’s most enchanted weapon to lose its enchantments and bonuses for 1d4 hours. 60 Creates 100ft radius of Magical Darkness only Evil creatures can see through.
11 Open a momentary portal to the Elemental Plane of Earth. Dealing 1-5d6 points of bludgeoning damage in a 10ft radius around (and including) target point of original spell. 61 Spell cannot be cast again for 24 hours.
12 Caster believes that fire will cure anything until he sleeps for 2d8 hours. 62 Target loses 1d4 Constitution, regains one point per full night of sleep.
13 Caster’s hair turns white, only natural growth can change it back. 63 Caster loses the spell as well as a spell or spell slot of the highest available level.
14 Caster thinks he is a wolf for 1d6 minutes. 64 Reroll twice, all effects happen.
15 Nearest village catches on fire. 65 All gold in a 200ft radius vanishes.
16 The spell’s energy explodes dealing 1d4/spell level damage to the caster and 1d2/spell level damage to anyone within 5ft. 66 Random weapon on random party member becomes intelligent.
17 A 12ft iron statue of the caster rises from the ground. 67 On his next turn the target may give you one suggestion.
18 Open a momentary portal to the Elemental Plane of Water. Dealing 1-5d6 points of bludgeoning damage in a 10ft radius around (and including) target point of original spell as well as drenching the area. 68 Thick fog appears in a 50ft/level radius permanently.
19 Random body part of target is paralyzed. 69 All heads turn invisible in a 1 mile radius (5280ft) for 2d12 hours.
20 A monster as of Summon Monster I-VII (dependant on party level) appears and attacks the party. 70 Caster and 1d4 other players feel compelled to do something (ring a bell, tie 100 knots, climb a 50ft cliff or tree, act like a bear for 1 hour, pray to a deity not worshipped by any party member, pretend to be blind for 1d4 hours).
21 Caster falls unconscious for 1d4 rounds. 71 Target grows a fox’s tail for 1d4 days.
22 Target’s nearest ally to intended target. 72 Nothing happens.
23 Nothing happens for 2 rounds, then 2d20 zombies of appropriate difficulty appear and attack the players. 73 Caster is blinded for 1d4 rounds.
24 Open a momentary portal to the Elemental Plane of Fire. Dealing 1-5d6 points of fire damage in a 10ft radius around (and including) target point of original spell. 74 The sky gains a blood red filter for 1d100 days.
25 Drops nearest target to -8HP (whether friend or foe). 75 Target is turned into a small statue for 1d4 rounds.
26 Roll another 9d100, every third effect happens. 76 Caster is thrown 10xSpell level feet in the air (random direction if flying).
27 Target’s head turns invisible for 1d6 rounds. 77 Caster is teleported 200ft away in a random direction.
28 Caster and a random party member switch bodies for 1d4 hours, keep own mental stats. 78 Random card flip from the Deck of Many Things for each creature and PC in the room.
29 Caster takes -4 to next attack roll. 79 Party is teleported to a 20ft by 20ft room with a deck of cards on the table (50% chance of a deck of many things).
30 All water in a 1 mile (5280 ft) radius evaporates, creatures feel dehydrated, -5 to every roll until fresh water is consumed. 80 Revives last 1d6 creatures killed.
31 Target’s AC goes up by 1d4, will return by one point per full nights sleep. 81 Area is affected by a 50ft radius “Antimagic Field”.
32 Open a momentary portal to the Negative Energy Plane. Dealing 1-5d8 points of damage in a 10ft radius around (and including) target point of original spell. In addition everyone in that area must make a Fort save vs. DC 25 or take a negative level for 1d8 hours. 82 Caster is dazed for 1d4 rounds.
33 Stars are visible during the day for the next 1d12 days. 83 Target’s weapon does 6d6+STR on next successful attack.
34 Casts “Curse of the Putrid Husk” (Subject is unconscious for 1d10 minutes) on a random party member. 84 Caster falls prone.
35 Caster’s eyes glow a random colour (see colours for prismatic effects) until he sleeps for 2d8 hours. 85 Random party member falls in love for 24 hours with the next humaniod he sees.
36 Caster turns invisible for 1d4 hours. 86 Target’s ability points are shuffled for 3d12 hours.
37 It starts raining actual cats and dogs for the next 1d4 hours. 87 A large ripping sound fills the area, caster realized he just farted.
38 A random party member and a party member’s pet switch bodies (physical stats only) for 1d4 hours, if no pet the PC stands blankly for 1d4 hours. 88 Nearest creature loses half their current HP.
39 Random party member is teleported 20ft away. 89 Spell fails, but spell slot or daily spells are maintained.
40 1d6 Monsters as Summon Monster I-VII (dependant on party level) appear and have a 50% chance of attacking the party. 90 “Damning Darkness” (LoM) is cast on the nearest object not in someone’s possession.
41 Two random party members switch bodies, keep own mental stats. 91 Next party member to die is restored to full health with no level loss.
42 The caster has a 50% chance to do nothing each round, can pass a DC20 Will save to resist. Remains until caster is healed. 92 Reroll five times, all effects happen.
43 1 round of rumbling (as if a small earthquake) then 1d6 50ft spires burst from the ground. 93 A flock of winged mice fly around the party/battlefield and then leave.
44 The caster and the target(s) turn to stone. DC15 Fort save to resist. 94 Nothing seems to happen, when next party member would take damage they take no damage instead.
45 The room or area is filled with Tables, chairs and a counter with mugs of ale (as if inside a Tavern). 95 Causes nearest PC to become affected by “Aspect of the Chromatic Dragon” (DrM).
46 Caster becomes afraid of casting spells for Fumbled Spells duration or 1 round per caster level, whichever is higher. Must make a Will save vs spell DC to cast any spell during this time. 96 Caster becomes a Stone Troll for 1d4 rounds.
47 A town filled with undead emerges half a mile (2640ft) away. 97 Open a momentary portal to the Positive Energy Plane. Healing 1-5d4 points of damage in a 10ft radius around (and including) the caster. Any extra HP become temporary and and disappear in 1d4 hours.
48 Caster take 1d2 Negative levels, these are returned 1d12 hours later. 98 Spell is delayed for 1d4 rounds.
49 Roll again. 99 Casts “Colour Spray” (PHB).
50 The next time an elemental spell is cast by the caster the effect happens with the opposite element. 100 Spell works as normal with no ill effects.
